Ai Ogura wasn't able to directly access the Q2 at Termas de Rio Hondo by 21 thousandths. The Japanese rider missed it by a whisker and will have to go through the Q1 today.
Nonetheless, the Trackhouse rider showed his potential again riding an RS-GP that's quickly becoming more tailored.
"I'm really frustrated because getting directly in the Q2 is better than going through the Q1," he said. "But I can be happy, in general. Being five, six tenths from the top isn't bad. Unfortunately, I can't get the bike to ride smoothly, and that limits me, since that's the most difficult aspect."
What's different from Thailand?
"In Thailand, everything was easier, since we tested, and Buriram is my favorite track. However, the bike is great, and that's confirmed by what Bezzecchi is doing."
Also among those who'll be attempting to access the Q2 is Chantra, with a 19th time in the morning behind Miguel Oliveira.
"In the morning, I struggled because of the track conditions, and it was difficult to gain confidence," he said. "In perfectly dry conditions, I worked on the set-up, and the sensations weren't bad. In the last time attack, I could've done something more, but I made a few too many mistakes in several corners."
What do you need to work on?
"I'm working mainly in acceleration, which is what I'm struggling with most, as well as cornering speed, but the team is helping me a lot. In fact, we're busy assessing and comparing different set-ups."
