Race 1 at Assen was nothing short of electrifying and full of for the Baggers. Eric Granado secured Saturday’s race, with a first victory in the series. The Brazilian rider came up from behind, found an opening to overtake Andrea Iannone, then took the lead, without ever relinquishing it.
Granado celebrated, while “The Maniac” endured a troubled race. Despite a flawless start, Iannone's bike began to leak oil, and #29 struggled to keep pace with the competition, finishing third.
But back in the parc fermé, his Harley went up in smoke, requiring staff to intervene and put out the flames. Fortunately, there were no consequences.
There was room on the TT podium for Gutierrez, who finished second, while McDonald was left out. The Australian was followed by newcomer Jordi Torres, followed by Lewis and Rovelli.
