Our LIVE coverage of the MotoGP Sprint Race at Assen kicks off at 15:00. Stay tuned!
Everything is set at Assen for a Sprint Race that could become an internal affair among Aprilia riders. Jorge Martìn has claimed the pole position in qualifying, leading the other three RS-GP bikes of Ogura, Bezzecchi, and Fernandez, showcasing a truly impressive dominance for the Noale-based manufacturer.
The best of the rest is Pecco Bagnaia, 5th on the grid ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio, with Marc Marquez 'only' 7th. The Spaniard does not currently seem capable of challenging the Aprilia riders on equal terms, but he was also expected to be on the defensive at Brno, and then things turned out very differently.
It will certainly be interesting to observe the battle between Martìn and Bezzecchi, who are currently separated in the overall standings by just 8 points in Marco's favor, but the Trackhouse squad shouldn't be forgotten either. Ogura is coming off a stellar weekend at Brno, and the heat at Assen could be a great ally at the end of the race. Fernandez had set the fastest lap in qualifying, but it was revoked due to a track limit violation.
