Alex Márquez takes full responsibility for losing his glove at Assen: following Friday’s violent fall, the Spanish rider made it clear that it wasn’t a technical issue but rather his own mistake.
“It was entirely my fault. I had fastened the glove. But with the sweat and the intense heat, I should've tightened it more. I want to apologize to Alpinestars. Ultimately, their reputation is at stake, but the responsibility lies with the rider.”
Márquez ruled out any liability on the part of the equipment manufacturer, explaining that he hadn't tightened his glove sufficiently. Fortunately, the rest of his protective gear prevented more serious injuries to his already injured collarbone and vertebra. That means he's been cleared to race and return to the track.
