Live Timing
Our LIVE coverage of the Dutch MotoGP Grand Prix at Assen will begin a few minutes before 2.00 pm. Stay tuned!
The Assen Sprint delivered a historic double for Team Trackhouse, with Raul Fernandez taking victory ahead of Ai Ogura. Also on the podium for the short race was Fabio Di Giannantonio, who broke the list of top Aprilias by finishing ahead of Bezzecchi and Martín.
Aprilia certainly found a way to maximize the potential of the RS-GP on the Dutch track, but the two main riders did not appear as competitive yesterday as their Trackhouse counterparts. Martín conquered pole position, but then failed to perform at high levels during the race. Bezzecchi at least increased, albeit by a single point, his lead over Martín in the standings, but Diggia managed to nibble away slightly at the overall standing thanks to the third place.
The two official Ducati riders were never really in contention, with Marc Marquez openly admitting he raced defensively, aware he couldn't fight for the podium without taking what he deemed excessive risks. Bagnaia finished 7th after a penalty for a track limit on the last lap, and had a poor start yesterday.
Today, there will be another significant variable to consider, namely the weather conditions. Heavy rain was expected overnight in Assen, with air temperatures set to drop compared to the over 30° seen yesterday. This could greatly affect today's playing field.
This is the starting grid for the Grand Prix
