MotoGP: Brazilian GP at risk? FIM denies it. Race will take place as planned.

It's going to be the second round of the 2026 MotoGP season, just about 20 days after the opening one in Thailand. Next March, Brazil will, once again, be hosting the world's premier motorcycle racing championship after an absence that began in 2004, when the race was held at the Jacarepagua track.

In this case, the race will take place in Goiania, a city that's 209 kilometers from the capital Brasilia, on a circuit that's not entirely unkown, given the previous visits from 1987 to 1989.

Clearly, the track dedicated to Ayrton Senna no longer complied with current safety regulations, which is why it had to align with the demands made by the FIM and Dorna. Currently, the renovation works are still in progress, but there should be no risk of not meeting the deadline.

"The deadline is close and the teams on site are working tirelessly to finish on time. We have a FIM delegate who's closely following the works. Every week, we receive videos and photos informing us of the progress. The latest video showed us that the first layers of asphalt have been laid and, in addition. the access roads have been prepared,  and most of the barriers installed," the Sporting Director of the Federation's Track Commission, Paul Duprac said, as was reported by GrandePremio.com.br.

Everything should, therefore, be up to par by the necessary time. "For now, there's no cause for concern. The Brazilian GP weekend will take place as planned," Duprac emphasized.

As was reported, additional changes will have to be made to the paddock, starting with widening the pit entrance by 1.5 meters, and also around the Medical Center area, with the installation of panels to protect the ambulance entry point, in order to provide more privacy.

The City of Goiania has directly participated in the project with 55 million reais, approximately 8.5 million euros.

The MotoGP will also be lining up a Brazilian rider this year, namely, Diogo Moreira, winner of the 2025 Moto2, who's now part of the Honda LCR team.
