Cal Crutchlow’s list of appearances as a replacement for an injured Johann Zarco continues to grow. This morning, the LCR team officially confirmed that the British rider will compete in the German Grand Prix, scheduled for the Sachsenring on the weekend of July 10th–12th.
This will be Crutchlow’s fifth race riding the French rider’s Honda RC213V, following his appearances in Italy, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and the Netherlands. It’s a long list of replacement appearances for the 40-year-old, who hasn’t ridden a MotoGP bike since 2023, when he finished 13th at the Japanese Grand Prix in Motegi.
Maybe not even Cal would've imagined that accepting Cecchinello’s call would mean a commitment of this magnitude. But Zarco’s return has been significantly delayed by the fact that he can't risk undergoing surgery on his injured knee as long as there's a risk of infection.
