For the third consecutive year, Ducati will be lining up the V21L in the MotoE Championship. The total number of bikes supplied will be 23: 18 for riders and 5 back-ups, revised from last year's edition in engine, electronics and, of course, chassis.
The battery pack was also improved: from 4.2 Ah to 5 Ah. So, with the same guaranteed power and range, a decrease in the units needed was allowed: from 1152 to 960. So as not to alter the weight distribution, every sixth cell was removed, saving a good 8.2 kg. On paper, this benefits lap times, which should drop between three and four tenths.
When it comes to mapping, the engineers will have three at their disposal, while traction control can be adjusted, curve by curve, and calibrated according to the track. Lengthened by 4 millimeters - thanks to different steering bushings, which are useful in ensuring greater stability when braking - it boasts of a swingarm pivot that is adjustable in height, so as to keep the effect of the chain shot unchanged when replacing the ring gear when changing gear set up or else to vary it so that it suits the rider's preferences or the characteristics of the circuit.
Another innovation will then be expected from the second round of the championship. From Holland, the V21Ls will mount a rear rim without sprocket guards, lightening it by 600 grams, with significant benefits in terms of agility and manageability. Therefore, overall the vehicle will drop from 225 kg to 216.2 kg.
Finally, the following are the track dates. A first test is scheduled for April 11th to 13th at Montmelo, followed by a second on May 8th at Le Mans, site of the first of 14 scheduled rounds.
