After starting from the nineteenth grid slot and finishing twelfth Maverick Vinales equally tried to take some positives from the weekend at Termas de Rio Hondo. Although the set-up with the Tech3 team's KTM is not optimal, the Spaniard was keen to remark on the progress made.
"It was a good Sunday," the former Aprilia rider confided, "On Saturday night, thinking about how to improve the sensations I had slightly modified my position on the bike and it worked as it allowed me to maintain a sustained speed in the corners and stop the bike. Of course the position is not what I wanted, but as a pace we didn't do too bad. The pace was the same as the official KTM riders who have more experience on the RC16 and that is a good sign."
"As I said the result is frustrating, however, if we consider the process we are going through it is not a throw-away. We are seeing the light. So we have to try to take a step forward every weekend with the knowledge that to understand a bike 100 percent takes time and is not easy. However, this is better than being aware that we have a noncompetitive bike on our hands. In general, we have to be realistic. We are not at the level of Ducati, but we can fight with the other manufacturers, which is why it will be important to make steady progress," he analyzed.
The next MotoGP round will be Austin, a track that rewarded the Spaniard himself in 2024. "It could be the turning point track. Last year it was very strong. On this occasion I will try to give my best on the single lap," he declared.
