MotoGP, Bagnaia: "I had to follow Marquez today and it worked."

"With the way I ride, I don't like to follow other riders. But Marc was very fast in the third sector, so I wanted to see how he was performin. My experience with Honda helped him."

MotoGP: Bagnaia:

Pecco Bagnaia made Ducati shine on Friday in Jerez. In fact, the world champion found his winning streak in the afternoon and set a record time of 1'36"025. Not bad for Borgo Panigale rider who's intent on a victory after Losail.

"After the difficulties of the past weekends, we decided to plan this Friday as a test and, in the end, it worked," he began. "We managed to try more things than usual, and I'm happy, because I found a confidence I had been missing for a while in braking and entering corners. I think it was a good step forward, reached in the middle of the FP2, and I'm also excited about both the flying lap and the race pace. So, I think my Friday was positive."

Who do you think could be yuor main opponents?
"There are many fast riders here in Jerez. Plus, the gaps are short. If I had to name names, I'd say Maverick, Marquez, Morbidelli, Bezzecchi, as well as Martin. The fact is that some of them had soft while others had medium. Consequently, it becomes difficult to compare."

Can we say that you've found the chemistry that you lacked with Ducati?
"I'm staying grounded and waiting to see how the weekend develops. This is definitvely a positive Friday."

Did we then see you following Marquez?
"Yes, you did! I needed to reach the time just like him, considering there was a yellow flag. For the way I ride, being behind someone isn't ideal. Maybe because of his experience with Honda, he's very fast in the third sector, especially at turn seven. Because of his experience in Honda, he was able to bring something to the Ducati, as well. In fact, I could see he was fast this morning, so I tried to see what he was doing and it worked."

No chattering problems today, right?
"That never happens on Fridays. Let's wait to see what happens on Saturday," he said smiling."

Valentino arrived today. Have you talked to him yet?
"I'll talk to him tonight. During the race weekend, I talk to him a lot. In fact, he takes an interest. He spends more time in the Pertamina team but, if I need to, I'll ask him."
