Alex Marquez: fracture of the right collarbone and slight fracture of the C7 vertebra

Alex Marquez experienced a true nightmare today in Barcelona. On the back straight, opposite the pit boxes, Alex was closely following Pedro Acosta when the Spaniard's KTM suddenly shut down at high speed. The impact was unavoidable, and Alex only managed to change direction slightly, which prevented a more violent collision with the RC16.

The crash was severe, and Gresini Racing has just issued an update on Alex's condition. He has suffered a fracture to his right collarbone, which will be operated on today at the General Hospital of Catalonia, with the insertion of a plate to stabilize the fracture. Another injury includes a slight fracture of the C7 vertebra, which will undergo further examinations in the coming days.

A period of downtime is therefore expected for Alex, with the consequences of the accident being serious but ultimately less severe than what could have resulted from such an impact at that speed.
