Ducati has officially announced that Marc Marquez will not be replaced at the Catalan Grand Prix, scheduled for this weekend in Barcelona. As a reminder, the world champion crashed during the Sprint race at Le Mans, fracturing the fifth metatarsal in his right foot. On Sunday, he underwent surgery, and doctors also addressed his right shoulder, where a pin, inserted during a previous operation, had broken and another had shifted, coming into contact with the radial nerve.
At this time, Marc’s recovery timeline has not yet been announced, so it is unclear when we will see him back on the bike. The regulations allow an injured rider’s bike to be left idle for one weekend, and that is what will happen in Barcelona. If, however, Marquez is unable to race at Mugello as well, a replacement will need to be found.
In Barcelona, the official Ducati team will field only Pecco Bagnaia.
