“The screw was removed,” Maverick Viñales announced, confirming that his shoulder surgery went well. Tech3's rider from Spain had withdrawn from the Austin Grand Prix last weekend after the first Free Practice session because the pain was too much. He had fractured his left shoulder last year during qualifying for the German GP and had to undergo surgery. However, one of the screws inserted during the procedure came loose, causing him pain.
Maverick decided to have the surgery in Italy. It was performed by Dr. Porcellini and his team. The procedure went according to plan, like Viñales wrote on his social media profiles.“Well… I already feel better. The screw was removed, and the surgery went well. A big thank you to Doctor Porcellini, Doctor Padolino, and Doctor Giorgini for taking care of me. Now it’s time to focus on recovering and get back to being one hundred percent.”
