MotoGP: The Tuk-Tuk challenge arrives: riders or stuntmen in the parade lap at Buriram?

According to Thai media, MotoGP 2026 is set to amaze the world once again. At the PT Grand Prix of Thailand, the traditional parade lap will give way to an idea that is as original as it is spectacular: the Tuk Tuk Challenge 2026, an initiative that combines showmanship, local marketing, and a passion for two wheels—or rather, three.

On Sunday, March 1, at 11:00 a.m., twelve specially equipped tuk tuks will take to the track at the Chang International Circuit. One will be decked out in the official MotoGP livery, while the other eleven will sport the colors of the various teams in the paddock. The designs have been carefully crafted down to the smallest detail and are sure to turn heads around the world.

Each vehicle will carry two top riders, ready to parade under the grandstands and distribute limited edition gadgets, exclusive items that fans won't be able to purchase elsewhere. This is a clear change of pace from the classic car parade with customary greetings: here, the goal is to raise the bar in terms of spectacle.

The context makes it all even more evocative. The same champions who normally tackle the Thai track at over 300 km/h on their MotoGP bikes will find themselves managing the peculiarities of the country's symbolic vehicle. A mix of adrenaline, irony, and cultural promotion that aims to enhance Thailand's "soft power" in front of a global audience.

For those in the stands, a camera is a must. For those watching from home, live streaming is essential: the impression is that this could be a one-of-a-kind event. MotoGP, once again, chooses to surprise the world. And it does so on three wheels. It's a shame that Valentino Rossi no longer races...he had a certain amount of experience on this vehicle!
