Lin Jarvis leaves Yamaha and sets up own business

After passing the baton to Paolo Pavesio, Yamaha's former #1 is dealing with the contract between the teams and Dorna/Liberty Media, but there's more on the horizon

MotoGP: Lin Jarvis leaves Yamaha and sets up own business

Lin Jarvis and Yamaha are parting ways for good. After a year in his role as external consultant, the British executive has terminated all relations with the Iwata-based manufacturer, ending a history that has spanned more than 30 years.

According to Motorsport.com, Jarvis has already informed several key players in the paddock of his desire to continue independently, offering his experience in motorspors - and in the MotoGP, in particular - to new projects. It's a farewell that marks the conclusion of a journey that began in the early 1990s, when Jarvis joined Yamaha in the Marketing and Communications Department during Max Biaggi's time, before rising to the top in sports management.

Replaced by Paolo Pavesio as managing director on the start of this season, Jarvis had remained with Yamaha as a senior advisor, reducing his presence at races and taking on institutional duties, including representing the manufacturers in negotiations with Dorna/Liberty Media for the new MotoGP commercial agreement starting in 2027.

His legacy, however, remains indelible. Under his leadership, Yamaha experienced one of the most successful eras in its history, starting with Valentino Rossi in 2004 and the world titles won with Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, and Fabio Quartararo, with a total of eight world championships that marked an era. Now, the separation appears to be finalized and ends one of the longest and most influential chapters in recent MotoGP history.
