Marc Marquez: "In the future I would like a son, but let's give time to time"

"As a rider I want to be remembered for what I conveyed. It doesn't have to remain just the titles. For the moment I'm not thinking about retirement, but I'm aiming to win again and stay in Ducati."

MotoGP: Marc Marquez: "In the future I would like a son, but let's give time to time"

Fresh off his ninth world title, his seventh in MotoGP, during an interview with the El Partidazo program Marc Marquez talked about everything from the goal he just achieved, to his rivalry with his brother Alex, to his desire to build a family of his own, but not anytime soon.

"This World Championship is different from the others and in fact I could not control my excitement. In the past I only felt euphoria, while here I also felt at peace with myself," he said before moving on to the approaching head-to-head with the younger member of the family.

"He has been my main opponent this year, so I think he has the speed to establish himself as runner-up, but I don't want to put pressure on him. Even third would be great," he said.

Turning to his own tomorrow within the ranks of Ducati, the champion from Cervera did not rule out a contract extension: "If I'm in a place where I'm happy, why change? I still believe I can continue, make sacrifices and think about how to improve as a rider. My wish is that once I stop, people will remember me not so much for the number of World Championships, but for what I was able to convey."

But since the appetite comes with eating, the Catalan admitted that he is not yet full: "When you are active you only think about adding a title to those already won. However, I recognize that the law of life dictates that younger guys come along as your level drops."

And who knows if the 32-year-old had ever imagined after his dominance with Honda that he would experience a long setback followed by a rebirth. "You never think you can crash, otherwise your times go up a second. Since the injury I have turned over a new leaf , although sometimes I need the help of those close to me. Unfortunately, my haste to return aggravated the injury. However, I wanted to close the circle and return to winning. Now, however, I am not going to retire," he stressed, warning the competition.

Finally, a thought for the family. "My first call after the success at Motegi? My mother's. As for the rest, I would like a son, however, we have to give time to time," he concluded.
