Before the 15th Grand Prix of the season in Catalonia, almost all of the coveted spots for the 2026 Moto2 World Championship have been filled. Two prominent Moto2 riders are moving up: Jake Dixon (who entered the Moto2 from the British Superbike Championship BSB) is moving from ELF Marc VDS Racing to the Honda factory team in the Superbike World Championship, where the Brit (with two Moto2 victories in 2025) will be riding a Honda CBR 1000 RR-R SP, while Diogo Moreira (currently third in the Moto2 World Championship) will strengthen the MotoGP class next season as a rookie with LCR Honda, replacing a disappointing Somkiat Chantra. Moreira won at Assen and Spielberg this year. Chantra, the Thai rider, could be returning to the Moto2 World Championship with RW Racing.
Aron Canet never made the jump to the MotoGP despite his considerable success. He received a lucrative offer from BMW for the Superbike World Championship this summer but has now signed with the ELF Marc VDS team for the 2026 Moto2 World Championship. Turkish rider Deniz Öncü is moving from Red Bull KTM Ajo to Marc VDS. A few weeks ago, there was still speculation on the fact that Öncü would end up at Pramac, because former Supersport World Champion, Kenan Sofuoglu (who had transferred his protégé, Toprak Razgatlioglu, to Pramac Yamaha in the MotoGP), offered his Turkish compatriot, Deniz Öncü, (previously with Red Bull KTM Ajo) to the Pramac Moto2 team, where he could have also ridden a Boscoscuro.
Alonso Lopez from Luca Boscoscuro's Speed RS team will ride for Italjet Gresini in 2026, with Sergio Gracia as his new teammate.
Filip Salac from the Marc VDS team was rumored to prefer returning to a Kalex in 2026, but the Czech has not yet signed a new contract. Insiders, however, believe that he, as the only Czech in the field, will find a team again after the highly successful return of the Brno GP with some support from Dorna. Salac is also managed by Jan Stovicek, the president of the Czech Motorsport Federation, who is said to have good contacts with Dorna officials.
Up-and-coming Belgian rider, Barry Baltus (now with Fantic Racing, who has already finished second four times in 2025 and is currently fourth in the World Championship), had an offer from Italtrans because Diogo Moreira is leaving, but he is going to continue to compete for Fantic.
The dominating Moto3 World Championship leader, José Antonio Rueda, will be taking the place of Sachsenring winner Deniz Öncü's in Red Bull KTM Ajo. He has already claimed seven Moto3 wins in fourteen races this season, as well as two third-place finishes.
Several experienced Moto2 riders have not yet found a place for 2026, like Darryn Binder (Italjet Gresini) and Albert Arenas (Italjet Gresini), the 2020 Moto3 World Champion with KTM in the Aspar. Zonta van den Goorbergh (RW Idrofoglia Racing) will also have to look for a new field of activity.
Celestino Vietti (SpeedRS Team) has not yet achieved his goals in 2025 (no win and only two third places in 14 races). It was rumored that he would have liked to switch to a Kalex team for 2026, since he celebrated seven GP victories on the German motorcycle between 2022 and 2024. However, the sixth-placed rider in the 2025 World Championship was unable to get out of his 2026 contract with Boscoscuro. After five years (four in the World Championship), Alonso Lopez and SpeedRS team owner, Luca Boscoscuro, are parting ways, while Luca Lunetta from SIC58 Squadra Corse will be joining them.
A prominent team change involves Tony Arbolino, who is moving from Pramac to Fantic, where he will once again ride a Kalex, with which he has already won six Moto2 World Championship races.
The QJMotor Frinsa MSI Team will line up the current Moto3 World Championship runner-up, Angel Piqueras, and Ivan Ortola will be staying for another year.
At Blu Cru Pramac, only the deal with former Moto3 World Champion, Izan Guevara, is currently confirmed for 2026. Salac is being considered for the second slot, as is talented Spanish rider Alberto Ferrández, who is currently holding second place in the Moto2 junior series at the JuniorGP for Team GV Racing on a Boscoscuro.
