MotoGP: Dovizioso signs with Yamaha for 3 years as tester and rider performance advisor

Yamaha and Andrea Dovizioso have signed a three-year agreement with the factory MotoGP team, taking on the dual role of Test Rider and Rider Performance Advisor until 2027. The Italian will play a key role in accelerating the development of Yamaha's MotoGP bike and improving the flow of communication between Yamaha's four MotoGP riders and the engineering team.

As a Test Rider, Dovizioso will participate in private test sessions outside the Grand Prix calendar, directly contributing to the development of Yamaha prototypes. He will also assume the new role of Rider Performance Advisor, designed to strengthen communication channels between riders and engineers, supporting Yamaha riders in analyzing and transmitting performance data.

Paolo Pavesio, managing director of Yamaha, commented, "Andrea and Yamaha have shared a strong partnership for many years and we are pleased to announce that he will remain with Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP for another three years. Dovi is not only a MotoGP legend with superb riding skills, but he also has technical knowledge and can give effective feedback to engineers. This certainly makes him an ideal test rider, but we saw an opportunity to further utilize his talents within Yamaha's MotoGP project. In addition to his hiring as a tester, which we believe is critical to our MotoGP development program, we are also excited to see him take on the new role of Rider Performance Advisor. This will allow Yamaha to collect crucial data and efficiently share information between the four Yamaha MotoGP riders and Yamaha engineers."

Andrea Dovizioso said, "I am really happy to officially announce this new link with Yamaha. I know it represents an important step in a relationship built on mutual trust and respect. I feel completely comfortable in the role we have defined together with Yamaha, aimed at maximizing my contribution to this important project. In both capacities, as Test Rider and Rider Performance Advisor, I see myself as a key liaison between the various players involved in the development process. My goal will be to create a strong synergy between the riders, team and crew, drawing on my experience both on the track and inside the garage. We are well aware that this journey will be shaped by many small details that need attention, but we also have a clear vision of the outcome we want to achieve and we know the level of dedication required to get there."
