MotoGP, Alex Marquez: "Dall'Igna is able to instill peace of mind in a rider."

"Gigi is on top of everything. No matter how small the problem is, he'll send the people you need. He also demands a lot from himself. With eight bikes on the track, he wants the first to eighth to be Ducati."

MotoGP: Alex Marquez:

In recent years, Ducati has dictated the pace both in terms of track results and technical evolution. A quick glance at the records they've broken is enough to get an idea that, yes, eight bikes on the track helps, but there's more to it than that. Just llike in an orchestra, there's a need for a conductor to direct the various instruments. And that's how it's been with Gigi Dall'Igna at Ducati during these successful years.

From Bagnaia's first title, to his confirmation the following year, to Martin handing over of the baton this year, with no less than six Constructors World Championships won, five of them in a row, Gigi Dall'Igna can definitely call himself Ducati's deus ex machina in recent years. Not coincidentally, the sprint in Thailand, with all eight bikes dominating the top of the standings, was emblematic. In a championship in which they only let one victory slip away, "nobody is perfect," they later joked at the end of the season.

Many have spoken about the importance of Dall'Igna's figure and presence in and out of the pits, riders first and foremost. If Marc Marquez was surprised by his "rider mentality", his brother, Alex, goes into even more detail about the effectiveness of Gigi's presence in the pits.
"He's a very direct support for us riders, and that gives us a lot of confidence. He's on top of everything. He's a great help. No matter how small the problem is, he's on top of it, and then he sends the people you need," the Spanish rider commented during an Estrella Galicia event. "You're given a lot of references regarding the problems of the brand colleagues or the tires used. They make the most of everything that others have done. They don't come and tell you what to do, but they give you the information to understand what's working with others. Then it's up to each person, with their crew chief, to decide their own way. This gives a rider peace of mind."

After all, Gigi Dall'Igna also demands the best from himself."If he has eight bikes on the track, he wants from the first to the eighth to be Ducati," the Gresini rider continued. In 2025, with the Pramac team deciding to go with Yamaha, Ducati will go from six to eight bikes. But, in the short term, the Gresini rider doesn't seem to be bothered much. "The situation won't change much. With six bikes, we'll try to be in the top six. It's clearly gong to be difficult, especially considering what Aprilia and KTM are capable of, but we'll try."

Next season, with Marc Marquez now on an official red bike, rookie Fermin Aldeguer will be joining Alex in the Gresini garage, while he's optimistic about his  own expectations.

"If we see where we finished and where we want to get to, that has to be a reference, not a goal. Bbut, after four or five races, we'll see the outcome. Of course, I'll try to do better than a rookie. In the garage, I'll be the reference, the most experienced rider, the one who has to get the results. But I'm sure Fermín will be able to get good results. Whether he'll need more or less time, we'll see, but he's in the best environment to be able to grow. I've been told 'you're the one who's going to have to help put and get the results'. It's going to be my duty, my responsibility," the Spanish rider concluded.
