One can only say that it was a successful experiment when talking about the All Stars Race, the big new feature of this 2024 edition of the Aprilia All Stars. A race with a Le Mans-style start, which saw six never-before-seen pairs of riders on Aprilia RS 660 Extremas compete in eleven laps of the race, divided into three stints, with no holds barred.
The crew composed of Miguel Oliveira and Loris Capirossi came out on top, 8"2 ahead of the pair formed by Maverick Vinales and journalist Stefano Cordara, after a heated duel between the two MotoGP riders. Thanks to an excellent start from the sixth position on the grid, Oliveira immediately moved into second place behind the Catalan rider, from whom he snatched the lead of the race shortly before handing over the #6 Aprilia to Capirex, who put his hands on the victory by pulling away from Cordara in the middle phase of the race.
With the first two places now well delineated, the spotlight shifted to the fight for the lowest step of the podium, which went to Matteo Baiocco, paired with Aleix Espargaró, thanks to a last-lap overtaking of test rider Tommaso Marcon, crewed by the other mid-engine specialist, Edoardo Colombi. Fifth place for Lorenzo Savadori and Samuele Cavalieri, followed by old glories Max Biaggi and Alessandro Gramigni, whose race was affected by a few too many difficulties for the Roman Emperor at the start.
