Marc Marquez revealed to DAZN that to clarify his ideas about his future he had called one person in particular: Dani Pedrosa. “I wanted advice from one rider to another” he explained. The two Spaniards had shared the garage of the official Honda team from 2013 to 2018 and their relationship remained strong over time, for this reason the rider from Cervera decided to talk to his former teammate.
“On Sunday, after the Motegi GP, I received a message from Marc in which he asked me if he could call me. I was surprised” Dani told motogp.com.
Marquez didn't reveal what the two said to each other and Pedrosa didn't want to go into details either.
“I can't tell you the details - he explained - he wanted to change and have another experience, working for KTM I couldn't give him advice on what he should do, but we exchanged information. Maybe because I too, like him, was with Honda for a long time, he wanted to have a different point of view. It was difficult to choose because he had a contract and breaking it is never easy."
Perhaps that phone call removed the last doubts from Marc, who from next year will ride a Ducati in the colours of the Gresini team.
“I have no doubts about his talent and his ability to go fast, he did it in 125, in Moto2 and in MotoGP. I don't see any reason why he shouldn't adapt to the Ducati” Pedrosa was certain.
