MotoGP, Dall'Igna: "Bezzecchi deserves a factory bike, but our hands are tied"

"Ducati respects the agreements with Pramac. With Pecco the harmony is perfect, we've improved but that's not enough, as 2022 showed, the season isn't over yet."

MotoGP: Dall'Igna:

Superlative. This is the term used by engineer Dall'Igna to define the achievement, or rather the dominion, of Pecco Bagnaia on the Austrian battlefield. A double victory at the Red Bull Ring weekend, that of "red cloud", which once again underlines the progress of Ducati and its top rider who seem to know no limits. The last of the evolutions was that of the lowering device, which allowed the young rider to equal the acceleration of the KTMs on their own playing field, while the rest was taken care of by the talent and experience of Pecco, who now has become a mature champion capable of managing a race weekend with surgical perfection.

"He didn't do anything wrong, starting with the starts which were fundamental here" continued the engineer. "Pecco was able to repel the attacks of Binder on the KTM in the first laps and then maintained the high pace without making any mistakes".

An evolution, that of Bagnaia, which seems to never want to stop.

"Each victory exponentially increases a driver's confidence and motivation. Here he won almost without rivals, he rode a separate race, like a true dominator".

KTM has already banked on Binder's talent for two more years. Have you thought of doing something similar with Pecco too?

"I don't think there will be any problems in that sense, we are in perfect harmony".

Are Ducati and Pecco "the most beautiful couple in the world", as the song used to say? Perhaps the only discordant note was that of Binder's KTM to interrupt the Ducati full house.

"We've improved a lot over the years, but we're still not satisfied. We can and want to improve further, if possible. I think that's the secret behind Ducati."

Ducati seems unstoppable, not only in MotoGP but also in SBK. What will be the next step? What are your dreams and future projects?

"For now, we're continuing to focus on this championship. After all, we're just halfway through the season, and as Pecco's comeback showed last year, it's not over yet."

Even the riders’ market now seems close to being concluded. Especially regarding the seats still in doubt, above all that of Zarco who will leave Pramac at the end of the year.

"I think the situation is quite clear by now, but we'll wait after Barcelona to sign the final contracts."

However, the issue regarding Bezzecchi, and the official bike has held sway in recent weeks, and the official decision has not yet arrived.

"There really wasn't much room for manoeuvre in this sense. For us, Marco deserves a factory bike because he has shown that he has the talent and ability, however our offer had its limits, we have agreements, and the factory bikes are in the Pramac team, we couldn't do anything about this".
