15.30 - We will have to wait for tomorrow to see Jorge Lorenzo on the Yamaha at Sepang again. The Majorcan arrived in Malaysia only this morning and, obviously, he wants to eliminate jetlag and rest a little before getting back on the bike. On the track, after a bit of movement in the morning, calm returned to the pits housing the M1, which can be seen thanks to slightly raised shutters.
A real shame, especially after Jorge had fun imagining himself already on Yamaha by publishing an image taken from a video game on social networks.
There are no technicians in the box, and everything is calm, when there are just under three hours left to the end of the tests. Lorenzo, therefore, is not expected on track today and we will have to wait a few more hours before having the chance to see the Majorcan on the Yamaha.
The appointment is made even more special by the presence of former rival Dani Pedrosa on the track. On the other hand, KTM’s Spanish rider is showing everyone how it’s done on the RC16 and he has the best time of the day so far, in 2'00.625.
The former rider has not lost any of his expertise, but the other KTM men (with the exception of Brad Binder) have not fitted a transponder. The new chassis is being used on all the RC16s, including those of the Tech3 team.
The work of the Aprilia team, which is preparing the new RS-GP to go on track, also continues busily. There are two examples of the new bike in the garage, with Bradley Smith waiting to try it. The Noale technicians have already fired them up several times (HERE find our exclusive video) but the time has not yet come for the new prototype to leave the pits.
A lot of work for Michele Pirro (Ducati), who is doing numerous laps on the GP20 (still with 2019 aerodynamics) to prepare it for the arrival of Dovizioso and Petrucci.
