MotoGP: Private test for Marquez and Pedrosa at Jerez

The factory Honda team is hard at work at the Jerez track with Marquez and Pedrosa, carrying out a strictly closed-door test. The HRC team has taken advantage of the two-week break between the Qatar and Argentinian rounds, using the first of the five test days teams are permitted during the season, having not done so in November when its rivals tested.

It's no coincidence that they are testing at Jerez. Over the winter, Marquez stated on several occasions that the Spanish track, thanks to its characteristics, is one of the best at which to evaluate the new engine, which still seems too aggressive. It's true that engines are now frozen in terms of development but teams can work on the electronics.

It's likely that the two Spaniards have continued to test the carbon swing-arm that they haven't yet used in a race, as well as possible aerodynamic developments.

This is why Marc and Dani have chosen to invest a day - behind closed doors - to have as much information about the engine as possible and to test the RC213V at what is the first European track on the calendar.

Other teams are also choosing to test at Jerez. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Spanish track will host the Pramac team with Petrucci. There is a specific reason for this, as the Desmosedici has always suffered at this track and Danilo, with the GP18, can carry out important work also on behalf of the factory riders. The tests are organised directly by Borgo Panigale in fact, and no information will be released as to what they test.

Aprilia and KTM will also be there, probably with their test riders, with the Austrian manufacturer also bringing its Moto2 to the track. Honda will remain but with test rider Stefan Bradl.

In addition to these teams, the Ducati SBK squad will test with Melandri and Davies, on their return from Thailand.

For anyone in the Jerez area - the Tuesday and Wednesday test will be open to the public, unlike today.
