SBK: Mercado injured, will not race in Australia

Team Iodaracing will not be at Phillip Island for the first round of the 2017 World Superbike season. The team will not make the overseas tour due to an injury to its rider, Leandro Mercado, who fractured three ribs and suffered a collapsed lung due to a crash while training on a motocross bike.

Mercado's condition is not critical, but the doctors have advised against the rider flying until he has recovered completely from the collapsed lung.

Team Iodaracing counts on being at the second round in Thailand, scheduled for11 and 12 March, depending on the actual complete physical recovery of its rider.
