Günther Steiner made his official debut in the MotoGP paddock on Saturday in Kuala Lumpur, at the launch event for the 2026 season, making his first public appearance as CEO of the Tech3 team.
The former Haas Formula 1 team principal, who last summer led the consortium that acquired Tech3 from Hervé Poncharal for €20 million, admitted to Crash.net that he feels "like a rookie" in his new role.
"I'm just finding my way, but it's very exciting," Steiner explained. "I'm the rookie, I know that. It's pretty nice to be a rookie at 60 years old: I feel young again."
Despite the change of ownership, nothing will change from a sporting point of view for Tech3 this season: the team will still field Enea Bastianini and Maverick Viñales, and will continue to use official KTM bikes.
Steiner officially took over as CEO at the beginning of the year, while Richard Coleman will become team principal in 2026. Team manager Nicolas Goyon will remain in his current role.
2026 will also be the last year of the current contract between Tech3 and KTM, although Pit Beirer has already revealed that Steiner has expressed his desire to continue the collaboration with the Austrian manufacturer.
