And ChatGPT decrees... in the challenge between Agostini and Marquez, Ago would win, by a narrow margin
The impossible challenge entrusted to Artificial Intelligence. And now don't say it cheered, computers don't cheer, they calculate. We know these comparisons are impossible, but absurd ideas aside, at least this one is fun!
At this time of year, speculation is rife. There are those who speculate about changes of helmet, early retirements and even rider hirings. We all know that at the end of the year, especially in anticipation of a season, that of 2026, where most rider contracts will expire, anything and everything can be said.
As if that were not enough, there are those who go so far as to speculate on the results of the next championship based on the outcome of 2025...for goodness sake, that's all well and good, but then why not go further and think about the challenge of the century between two absolute champions but from different eras? So cwhat about one between Giacomo Agostini, the greatest with 15 world titles, 8 in the 500, the premier class of the era, and Marc Marquez, 9 titles, 7 in MotoGP, one step away from joining King Ago, at least at the top of motorcycle racing?
An impossible comparison? Of course, we agree totally so that's why we put it down to Artificial Intelligence. The AI that is so much talked about these days.

Here is a realistic "full season head-to-head" comparison between Giacomo Agostini and Marc Márquez, imagining them as being in the same era, with the same bikes and rules, as if it were a modern-day MotoGP World Championship.
Basic Assumptions.
Same official bike, same team
Modern calendar (20-22 GPs)
Same tyres, electronics and format
Both at the peak of their careers
Qualifying
Advantage: Márquez
Podcast
Marc would be on the front row more often. He has a unique ability to extract the most out of a flying lap, taking extreme risks that Agostini, a more calculating rider, would be unlikely to take in qualifying.
Estimated pole score:
Márquez 12-14
Agostini 4-6
Races in the dry.
Here the comparison becomes very balanced.
Márquez: pure speed, aggressive attacks, chaos management
Agostini: steady pace, very few mistakes, great reading of the race
On a dry track Marc would win more races, but Ago would bring home many second and third places.
Estimated wins:
Márquez 9-11
Agostini 6-8
Races in the wet or mixed conditions
Advantage: Agostini
Ago grew up in an era when wet weather was almost the norm and survival mattered as much as speed. Márquez is strong in the wet, but tends to push more.
Estimated wins:
Agostini 3-4
Márquez 1-2
Reliability and crashes
Advantage: Agostini
Agostini crashes very little
Márquez crashes more often, especially when forced to chase.
In a long season, this is important.
DNFs estimated:
Márquez 3-5
Agostini 0-1
Constance in points
Net Advantage: Agostini
Ago is the rider who "doesn't throw away" difficult Sundays. Even when he can't win, he maximizes the result.
Psychological pressure
Márquez dominates in the direct confrontations and hand-to-hand battles.
Agostini is unflappable over the distance of a championship.
Marc tends to raise his risk when he is down in the standings; Ago doesn't.
Final standings (simulation)
Out of 22 GPs:
Agostini: ~390-405 points
Márquez: ~370-395 points
World Champion: Giacomo Agostini, by a few points
Final Verdict.
Márquez would be the fastest and most spectacular rider Agostini would win the World Championship through consistency, intelligence and zero waste
