Liberty Media is preparing for a historic passing of the baton. As of Jan. 1, 2026, the legendary John C. Malone will relinquish the presidency of the Board, becoming its Chairman Emeritus. Taking the reins will be Robert R. "Dob" Bennett, current vice chairman and a leading figure in the company since its founding in 1991.
Bennett, who previously led the company as president and CEO from 1997 to 2005, brings with him 30 years of experience at Liberty Media. This change also marks a downsizing of the Board, which from January 2026 will operate with 8 members (5 of them independent) and an Executive Committee restricted to Bennett, Derek Chang and Chase Carey.
