It was 2008 when Valentino Rossi won the Indianapolis MotoGP Grand Prix on his Yamaha; tonight he repeated himself, but with two more wheels, on the WRT team's BMW. Seventeen years later, the Doctor crossed the Brickyard first; he is the first in history to do so on a motorcycle and in a car.
Valentino was at the start of the Indianapolis 8 Hours, a round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge, in the M4 crewed by Kelvin van der Linde and Charles Weerts. It was a race affected by bad weather, with rain coming after 4 hours that forced the marshals to show the red flag. The restart was under the Safety Car regime and the WRT team implemented a very good strategy in the pit stops and managed to win the race.
"I am very happy because it was a great race and we were very lucky in the end. To win here is special after doing it in MotoGP in 2008, and I'm happy to have helped Kelvin win the title," Rossi's words.
