Alex Márquez is enjoying his best season in the MotoGP, surpassing all his previous achievements, with 18 podiums in 24 races, including a victory in the Jerez Grand Prix and one in the Silverstone Sprint. Riding Team Gresini's Ducati GP24, he collected 280 points in 14 rounds: more than 100 more than his previous record.
Despite his brother Marc's overwhelming supremacy, leadin the standings with 175 points, the Márquez brothers are on the verge of a historic one-two in the championship. Alex is currently second, with a 52-point margin over Francesco Bagnaia.
"The GP24 gave me the confidence to be fast and solid. It was my weak point."
"We're seeing the best version of Alex Márquez. I'm sure of this," Alex told MotoGP.com. "It's my best season so far. And not by a small margin. A huge difference from the Alex we've seen in the past. This bike has given me the confidence to be fast and solid, especially to be consistent. That was kind of my weakness in past years."
"An official bike in 2026? We'll see if we get credit or not."
"In this sport, you can never relax," he continued. "You can get a lot of credit in a race bu,t after three bad results, everyone forgets what you're doing. We'll see next year with the contract, whether we get credit or not! All riders want a factory contract, or to be in a factory team. What I'm experiencing in the Gresini team is something super special, so it's not just about going to a factory team. It's always a project, what people you're going to have around. It's the whole package. But, right now, I'm having too much fun to think about the future. Now that I'm having fun, I don't want to think about what's going to happen in a year and a half."
"When I'm behind Marc, I try to learn. I forget he's my brother. He's the best."
"I don't think we have the package to attempt to win the title." He then concluded: "We don't have the responsibility to try to win, for example, like Marc. It's the first time I'm in this situation, of trying to fight for a World Championship in the MotoGP. So, I'm just trying to learn from that but, mostly, to learn from the best, which is Marc. When you're behind him, it's like you're in school, trying to take notes on what he does better than you. Forgetting that he's my brother, it's hard to have a rival like Marc. He's one of the best in history."
