Nicolò Bulega came in13th in the Superpole Race for mounting the wrong tires, but he bounced back in Race 2, finishing second behind the BMW. Frustrated by a missed chance to make up ground in the overall standings, and with his hat in hand, the Ducati Aruba rider appealed to the manufacturer.
"I made the choice myself after talking to my team. I felt like it wasn't dry enough to put slicks on and, instead, I made a mistake," he said.
"In the inspection lap, I saw that turns one, five, and fourteen were quite wet and there was no wind. Then, on the grid, the wind increased, and the track temperature increased, so it dried faster than expected. I made a mistake, but I admit that these conditions prevent me from riding as I'd like, so it's something I have to work on. nd I apologize to the team because, this morning, it went badly and, in the afternoon, I just thought about recuperating," he continued in his analysis.
The Hungarian broadcaster spoke of a possible problem with the front suspension, but the rider from Emilia denied it. "No, I didn't have a problem, I just made the wrong tire choice."
The next three tracks particularly suit Razgatlioglu. That's the reason why the race for the title could be affected. "I think I could have my say in Aragon and Jerez. Last year, I won at Magny Cours, but Toprak was absent due to an injury. I think that we can improve and be fast. Overall, the tracks coming up will be better than the last ones faced."
The Turkish rider is coming from nine wins in a row: a state of grace that may prove to be a hindrance to the competition, mentally as well. "He's in a good moment, but it's well known how competitive he is. For me, nothing changes. I just try to give it my best and find solutions with Ducati, in order to make the bike progress and for me to become stronger in my weak points," he stated.
There's going to be a test in August: a good opportunity to have the V4 R advance. "After Most, BMW worked very well, unlike at the beginning of the season when I was often faster than them. I don't know what they brought, but they became faster. We have to find something to progress, because I'm using the maximum potential of the bike. The layout here penalized me, but I'm still the best Ducatista, even if I know that it's not enough and that more needs to be done. They're working hard at Borgo Panigale. The package is very good, and it isn't not easy to improve something also because of the regulations," he concluded.
