Aleix Espargarò finished the Jerez GP in 17th place. Unfortunately, due to erratic tire pressure, the Honda rider was given a 16-second post-race penalty, which moved him back three positions from where he finished the GP.
The Spanish rider tried to explain what he did on the track.
"Unfortunately, I couldn't find my pace," he said. "Obviously, I'm feel bad because, when you're an HRC rider, you have to be at a high level. The fact is that so much time has passed since the Sepang test, and I hadn't lapped. We were supposed to test in Jerez, but we couldn't ride because of the rain. However, I tried to do my job, focusing on myself and on testing things."
What impressed you about Marquez's Ducati?
"I didn't know he was behind me. I had a good pace for the top ten. At an engine level, we're missing something, even if we suffered less here than in Qatar. The fact is that Ducati races much better, and we feel a lot vibrations, especially at turns four, seven, and eight where I was losing a lot of time."
And the Aprilia?
"Aprilia is a very competitive bike. Last year, the bike won and got podiums. Ogura is doing his job, but they need to improve."
