MotoGP, Martin: "I'm not friends with Bezzecchi. I'll be Aprilia's reference."

"There's lots of tension with Bez, but allthat matters is that he's competitive. We have to develop the Aprilia together. My role? I'm the reigning champion, therefore, the reference point for the project."

MotoGP: Martin:

After a season as the only real rider of reference for his team, Ducati Pramac, most of the time, Jorge Martin said he's convinced that it's going to be the same story in 2025, when he'll be defending the colors of the official Aprilia team and will also have a "hungryBezzecchi at his side.

Even if he's aware that he's no longer on a winning bike but one that's in the process of developing to try to become one, the MotoGP world champion didn't hide his goals and, with regard to his future garage mate, he recalled the times when they both fought with a knife between their teeth in the minor categories, hoping to make a name for themselves and soon make the jump into the premier class.

In particular, the Spanish rider recalled 2018 when he prevailed in the Moto3 championship with 46 points ahead of Bez. "In recent years, Marco has been everything but my best friend. There have been many moments of disagreement between us," he confessed to Paddock-GP.

But, from now on, the tensions of the past will have to be put aside and replaced by a more synergistic approach, in order to bring the Noale-based manufacturer to the same level as the Borgo Panigale-based one. "What matters is that he's competitive and that we can give each other advice to allow the RS-GP to develop," he argued, although emphasizing how that he's the true pillar of the team. "Even if I'll never be Aleix Espargaro, I already have a leadership role. Being the reigning champion, it's going to be up to me to direct the project."
