A video on social media channels this morning had anticipated the news: Franco Morbidelli will ride for the Pertramina Enduro VR46 team in 2025. Franky had been the first rider in Valentino's Riders Academy and also the first to win a world championship title (in the Moto2 in 2017). Now he'll be wearing the team's neon yellow in the MotoGP, pairing up with Fabio Di Giannantonio.
As was already communicated, the VR46 team will have a Ducati GP25 and a GP24 for next year: the official bike will go to Di Giannantonio, while Franco will ride this year's bike.
"What a great story. I'm very happy to announcce that I signed with the VR46 Racing Team for the 2025 season," Morbidelli 's commented. "I'll definitely feel at home here. I really want to do well and repay this trust with good results, both for myself and for all the crew. I feel like rejoicing again with the whole group. A heartfelt thanks to the entire VR46 Riders Academy and to my management. Vale, Carlo, Uccio, Albi, and Gianluca. Friends but also key figures in the VR46. I can't wait to start this new adventure together."
Alessio Salucci, Team Director for the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, added, "I'm really happy to be able to confirm that Franco will race with the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team in 2025. Franco was the first rider to enter the VR46 Riders Academy. We've known him for many years. We've seen him grow in Tavullia and, today, with great satisfaction, we can say that he'll be joining the crew starting next season. He's a very talented rider, and we can't wait to welcome him and have him enjoy the family atmosphere that distinguishes us. He'll continue to ride a Ducati, specifically a Desmosedici GP24, and we're sure he'll be able to fight with the strongest group. Once again, I can only thank Ducati for the support, both in human and technical terms, and all our partners, especially Pertamina Lubricants, which support this incredible project."
