MotoGP, Morbidelli: "The incident with Bezzecchi was not irresponsible riding but bad luck"

"Marquez is right, it was a racing incident. Vinales lifted up early, I tried to brake but I made it worse. I have already talked to Marco."

MotoGP: Morbidelli:

Morbidelli's Sprint race at Silverstone lasted a hundred meters. Unfortunately, the Pramac rider lost control of the bike also involving the unfortunate Marco Bezzecchi. Fortunately neither of them suffered any consequences although tomorrow Franco will have to serve a double long lap penalty. In the post-race Franco explained the dynamics of the incident commenting also on the subsequent decision by the Steward Panel.

"For sure I'm very sorry for the incdient - Franco commented - I tried to brake in the window prepared for the braking but what you saw happened. I couldn't avoid the incident and I'm sorry to have involved Marco in it."

Did you get the braking wrong?
"More than me getting the braking wrong, it was Maverick who lifted up early. He got off to a bad start, he had a different speed. I braked before Oliveira, but in the end the fault lies with the person who crashes. Unfortunately, at the moment when Vinales and Bezzecchi were slower, I tried to brake but I did worse, in fact I lost the rear and the front also closed."

Did you have a chance to talk to Bezzecchi?
"We talked to each other! He took a big blow, but he's okay. These are races, this is the sport we have chosen and these mishaps are part of the game."

So you had no problems with the lowering device?
"No, no problems with the lowerer."

How do you view the penalty imposed?
"I don't consider it irresponsible, but unlucky because I didn't want to overtake anyone but simply break away as I always did. By the way, if you look at the images, I lifted off before the others. However, I accept the decision."

Marquez, seeing the images, considered it a racing incident.
"It is! The fact is that these are races and obviously we are always at the top with 20 bikes on the track. These things can happen and my point of view is that this was an unfortunate accident and not an incident caused by irresponsible riding."

Do you think aerodynamics can affect it?
"Of course! Of course it affects everything because we are at very high speeds. What matters is that both Marco and I were not hurt."
