After Mugello, the RedBull ring will be the second appearance for the 33-year-old from Granollers, who has been an integral part of the Austrian manufacturer's development program alongside Dani Pedrosa this year. Pol Espargarò will ride his KTM RC16 on the red bull team's "home" circuit the weekend of August 16th to 18th. In the Italian stage, he finished 14th in the sprint and 17th in the long race.
The Spanish rider was with Red Bull KTM between 2017 and 2020 and, in 2018, he achieved a first podium in the premier class with KTM. Pol then retired from full-time racing in 2023, and his current wildcard outings allow him to gather valuable data and position himself in the tests. He also stood on the podium at the Red Bull Ring for the 2020 Styrian Grand Prix with the KTM RC16. The 2024 will be his 9th MotoGP at the circuit.
Pol Espargarò's comment:
"I'm ready to go again! Mugello was a special circuit for my return to Red Bull KTM, but there's nothing more special than the Red Bull Ring because of the track, the venue, the fans, and the atmosphere. And, as much as this Grand Prix means to KTM, it's also a bit like a home race for me. I have good memories of fighting for the win there but, like in Italy, the goal will be to get on the track with the KTM RC16 and continue our testing program. We'll have some work to do, but I know the Austrian GP will also be a lot of fun."
