Mir: "There are no excuses. We have to get out of this situation."

"I tried to radically change the setup, but it didn't work and in the race I was never able to push, even risking a crash. Regretting the renewal? When we come back strong, no one will remember the past."

MotoGP: Mir: "There are no excuses. We have to get out of this situation."

After finishing eighteenth across the line 43 seconds behind the winner Pecco Bagnaia, Joan Mir left the Sachsenring disappointed and bitter, especially after seeing his teammate Luca Marini finally reach the points zone.

Annoyed by the somewhat surrendering attitude of Honda, still unwilling to react promptly to the requests of its riders, the Majorcan tried to do his own thing by revolutionizing the set-up of his RC213V, only to go back on his steps on Sunday, aware that he had not improved anything.

"At the end of the GP we had an important meeting because some problems appeared that prevented me from pushing - he confided to Motorsport.com's Spanish version - It was a complicated weekend for the brand and especially for me. I was never able to be at least a little bit competitive. The bike was moving a lot and there were several moments when I risked crashing even without pushing hard."

Regarding the difficulties encountered, the 26-year-old explained, "I lapped on Friday with a new motorcycle, but it absolutely did not work, and in the end the race was the first session in which we lined up with our other brand colleagues. In light of this, there is no excuse. We need to work harder to change this situation."

In spite of his discouragement over a round in Germany that went worse than expected, the 2017 Moto 3 champion, currently 18th overall with 13 points, reaffirmed his loyalty to the Japanese manufacturer, upholding his decision to remain with the team until 2026. "When we become strong again, no one will remember the previous critical issues."
