MotoGP, Morbidelli: "I'm a pin in the chaos of the riders market"

"I still don't know who my future teammate is going to be. Let's go slow in defining Mugello as a decisive date. What am I missing to be competitive? The start and also speed on new tires."

MotoGP: Morbidelli:

If we were to compare his season with that of his teammate, Jorge Martin, it could unceremoniously be called a flop. But if you consider that Franco Morbidelli was involved in a frightening accident over the winter, and from which it took him some time to recover, not everything is exactly a disaster.

From his Yamaha suit to his Ducati one, the Roman rider from Tavullia has proven himself to be on the rise these past few months. "I'm excited about the Mugello weekend, as is the team. We're going with positive feelings, because of the speed and the desire for the podium that we had in the last laps of the Montmelo GP,"  he commented on the eve of the round in Tuscany. "Although I had problems at the beginning of the championship, it's crucial to prove you're doing well. Bringing home results is motivating."

Even with all the necessary precautions, the goal has to necessarily be ambitious. "There's too much of a gap, especially at the start, to aim for victory, so I'd like to fight for the top five," he said with conviction. "Is it going rain? I hope not. But if it does, we'll do the best we can with the conditions that present themselves. The premises are very good, although not great, given that I didn't finish in the top three at Montmelo, as I would've liked."

About being in tune with the bike, the Pramac rider confessed: "We're lacking in several areas, especially at the start and in terms of speed with new tires. But I think that it's mainly the start that penalizes us, considering that, besides Barcelona, I've never managed to make a decent one and not lose positions."

Lastly, he looks towards the future. Will the Italian round really be that decisive in defining the 2025 grid?

"I don't know. Many rounds have that valence. In my opinion, there's no specific time. Certainly, to date, many riders haven't yet announced what they'll be doing in the upcoming championship. Am I like a pin in the midst of the market? Maybe. We'll see who my teammate will be next year. I have no idea, for now."
