MotoGP, Marquez: "My future decided at Mugello? We'll see, I know what I want"

"Now it is important to confirm the good result of the Jerez GP and make progress. On the positive side, after studying the bike for a long time and trying to adapt, I have begun to work on the set-up and give guidance to the technicians."

MotoGP: Marquez:

Sixth at the end of the test at the Angel Nieto track Marc Marquez did not hide his satisfaction with the feeling on the bike after some difficulties he had in the pre-Jerez events.

"I did not ride different bikes, in the sense that there were two, but the same one to speed up the work of the mechanics. We tried some things and I must say I am happy because compared to the sessions in Malaysia and Qatar my comments were different. At that time I was trying to adapt my riding style to the Desmosedici and I had some doubts, but today I was able to be very precise. This will certainly help the technicians. Now I know the bike better and I can ride it in a more suitable way, plus I can make the technicians understand me more."

"Have I received gifts from Ducati? - he continued - No, we checked the behavior of some solutions that the official riders are already using, this is because the team wants to hear more feedback. Overall, we focused on the set-up and on maximizing what we have available."

"Until Portimao, we didn't touch the GP23 much because I had to adapt. Already there, however, I understood where the limit was, and now it was time to take action on the set-up and work on my weak points. On this occasion we made some progress. Obviously when you are fast and consistent it becomes easier to experiment with new things. Will this test be helpful in becoming more incisive? I hope so, I managed to get down to 1'36" right away. On the final shift I tried things I liked, so I'm sure it will help and that we are going in the right direction. Now I am able to work on performance. In this case, Dall'Igna and the factory team staff also came to the pit because precisely we tried some evolutions for them, so it was a productive day. Then I was pleased to know that Bagnaia and Bastianini had also given the same feedback as me."

Asked about the lyrics of the song sung to the whole team based on "It will be because I love you" by Ricchi e Poveri, the rider from Cervera revealed, "I wrote it with Alex in Austin, but my contribution was greater. I think this weekend was the right one to perform since yesterday I finished second and my brother fourth."

About the braking system that had bothered him in other GPs, the Spanish rider explained, "We tried an alternative here in Jerez yesterday and it went well, although not perfectly, however today we changed a bit more and the lever gave me better feeling. Not that it brings the time down by tenths, but it certainly helps in consistency."

What specifically can be implemented?
"Before, I was always trying to get to the corners quickly, but this bike is different and does not allow such an approach. Gradually I am acquiring the new methodology. The difficulty will come on circuits with fast corners, but in general I am happy."

Looking to the future and the team's alleged decisions for Mugello, he summed up, "What matters is that the results begin to arrive and that we can confirm our form as early as Le Mans. For the rest we need to focus on the present and the steps forward. Having said that mentally I know what I want and I have no other options."
