MotoGP, Michele Masini to Marquez: "You looked like Mario Kart."

Nice little interlude at the end of the French GP by the Gresini team that greeted with elation the double podium of Marc despite starting from 13th position. The Spaniard: "I started at the back just to make a show."

MotoGP: Michele Masini to Marquez:

That sooner or later he would become competitive again was what more or less everyone believed and imagined. With eight world championship titles on his personal resume, Marc Marquez could not have suddenly lost his undeniable talent, and although crashes continue to characterize him, after saying goodbye to Honda to get on the Ducati he has regained that hunger for results and that cockiness that helped create his character.

Already at Jerez the champion from Cervera had managed to put himself in the spotlight, but at Le Mans he really raised the bar by starting 13th and finishing second in the Sprint Race, as he did on Sunday, sending his fans, but above all his team, into raptures.

As soon as he arrived at the parc ferme at the end of the GP, sporting director Michele Masini greeted him with a definition that leaves no doubt. "You are a phenomenon," was the excited shout followed by the manager's rhetorical question of whether that had actually been his plan.

"It was all studied - was the 31-year-old's amused retort that starting from such a backward position was simply a strategy - Just like that, to make a show."

Mechanic Javi Ortiz, his loyal sidekick and therefore also a former HRC man, then joined the amusing little interlude. "You did it, huh?" he said. "I brought it home," the Spaniard commented, and then received another compliment from the sporting manager: "You looked like Mario Kart." A declaration the Spaniard followed up with a "pum pum," signifying the ease with which one by one he overtook his opponents.
