MotoGP, TGPOne Jerez, Pernat: Bagnaia rediscovered, but watch out for the Spanish riders

In the company of Carlo Pernat, we commented on the results of the first day of the MotoGP free practice and the rumors in the paddock at the Jerez circuit: from a rediscovered Bagnaia, to a consistent Aprilia with Viñales, and a Marquez who has the GP23 under his belt. The Spanish riders are still the favorites on their home circuit.

MotoGP, TGPOne Jerez, Pernat: Bagnaia rediscovered, but watch out for the Spanish riders

Bagnaia dominated the first day of free practice at the Spanish Jerez circuit by breaking a new track record. He was closely followed by a consistent Viñales, who maintains the high level he demonstrated in Austin, and Marc Marquez third with the Ducati GP23 under his belt.

Aprilia established itself with both factory riders, while Trackhouse appears to be struggling. Instead, the KTM family is a different matter, with only Acosta getting into the Q2 with his own GasGas due to Binder's slip up in the last stages of free practice.

Jerez could, therefore, favor the Spanish riders, but the Ducati hegemony persists, with no less than seven of the eight bikes in the top ten time references. On the other hand, Honda and Yamaha continue having problems. Both Japanese constructors are suffering in  changes of direction, but it looks like the tide is turning. Honda seems to want to revolutionize its aerodynamics in the upcoming tests, which we got a look at today on Bradl's bike. We talked about it with Carlo Pernat.
