MotoGP: Kevin Schwantz and Randy Mamola are back to challenge each other at the Classic GP Assen

Kevin Schwantz and Randy Mamola will compete once again on the track astride the legendary 500 2-stroke bikes. The occasion will be the Classic GP Assen, a historical re-enactment scheduled from 8 to 10 September on the TT circuit.

The event brings legendary cars and motorbikes back to the track and for two wheels there could be no better guests than the two Americans. For the occasion, Schwantz will ride two iconic RGV 500s: the 1989 one in Pepsi colours and the 1994 one with the Lucky Strike livery. During his career, the Texan won 3 times at Assen and his lap record from 1991 remained unbeaten for 10 years.

Mamola will also be riding a Suzuki, but a little more 'vintage', it will in fact be the one of the Heron team from 1981. In that same year, at the TT, Randy fought for the win with that bike, but a crash put him out of action.

For those who want to admire the two riders in action, tickets are on sale HERE.
