MotoGP: Sepang test, Martin improves before the rain, then risks and crashes

18.00 - Riding in the wet always means taking risks and in fact, just in the last few minutes, an expert rider like Cal Crutchlow crashed. Here are today's times and the combined.

17.29 - Only Bagnaia, Bezzecchi, Marquez and Aleix Espargaro remained on the track with the wet asphalt.

16.50 - The rain has intensified. There are only Alex Marquez and Morbidelli on the track.

16.39 - To give an idea of the times in the wet: the best (like Zarco and Augusto Fernandez) lap in 2'13" high.

16.30 - Even in the tests there are close encounters... of a certain type. Below is the video of Pecco Bagnaia and Pol Espargarò 'at loggerheads'.

16.10 - Important aerodynamic evolutions in Yamaha: HERE all the details.

16.02 - Bagnaia has also opted to do some laps in the wet.

16.00 - It has started to rain again: Alex Marquez, Jack Miller and Maverick Vinales are on the track, naturally with rain tyres.

15.50 - It has stopped raining, but the track is still wet. Alex Marquez took to the track.

15.30 - The rain is back.

15.00 - Updated standings.

14.54 - Bastianini moves up to 8th place.

14.35 - Martin has returned to the pits, now there is only Luca Marini on the track.

14.33 - The sun has come back out again and Jorge Martin is on the track. Of note is a crash by Marco Bezzecchi at turn 5. Martin also crashed.

14.20 - The rain has returned to fall on the Sepang track.

14.00 - Change of leader: Jorge Martin is in command with a time of 1'58"736.

13.36 - Crash without consequences for Aleix Espargarò at turn 12.

13.35 - KTM has entrusted Brad Binder with a new fairing with lower diffusers. You can find out all the details of the development HERE.

13.30 - The sun is shining at Sepang and all the riders have taken to the track: the fastest is Miguel Oliveira on the Aprilia with a time of 1'58"839, about 4 tenths slower than yesterday's benchmark set by Bezzecchi.

13.00 - The track is in good condition and Fabio Quartararo's best time proves it: 1'58"897. Lots of riders on the track.

12.30 - Pol Espargarò and Jack Miller under 2'01", the track is getting crowded.

12.15 - After a long break, Oliveira went out on the track, but the asphalt conditions are still not optimal and most of the riders haven't even put on their leathers. However, Miller lapped in 2'01"523, so the circuit should soon come alive.

Fabio Quartararo takes the opportunity to help his mechanics warm up the M1s.

11.00 - Only four riders took to the track, among them is Cal Crutchlow who yesterday handed over the baton to Nakasuga. Today and tomorrow the Briton will ride on the Test Team's M1 instead.

10.38 - Half an hour into the day, only Miller and Bezzecchi have gone out on the track. Times are still high: 2'12"950 is Marco's best benchmark.

10.00 - Green light in the pit lane for the start of the second day of testing in Sepang. It rained during the night and the track isn't in the best condition: the asphalt is still damp and the cloudy sky certainly doesn't help dry it out.

Below the standings of the first day, with Marco Bezzecchi who set the best time.
