MotoGP: Dovizioso: "A frustrating race at Barcelona, I hope to finally redeem myself at Le Mans"

Le Mans will be a fundamental race for Andrea Dovizioso who will have to prove that he has the right pace to fight for the title. The last races have been difficult for the Ducati rider from Forlì, even more so in Barcelona, which lasted only one corner. The French track, on paper, is what it takes to switch up a gear.

Only last year Dovi achieved his best MotoGP result here, 2nd place, but even in previous editions he had always proved competitive. Recovering points from Quartararo will be essential, now that the gap in the standings has reached 24 points with 6 races left to go to the end of the championship.

The priority will be to be able to correctly interpret the new Michelin tyre, which Andrea has succeeded in doing only on very few occasions this year.

"After the frustrating race at Montmeló, it was definitely good to have a week to recover not only physically, but also mentally - confessed Dovizioso - I am eager to get back on track at Le Mans, for two main reasons: first of all, I hope to finally redeem myself after the disappointment of the last race. Moreover, we will race on a track of which I have good memories from last year. I try to see every GP as a new opportunity, confident that I can be competitive again. At Le Mans, we will have to deal with the uncertain weather, a factor that will certainly affect the weekend a lot. In any case, we are ready to fight to the end."

Danilo Petrucci: "There is still room for improvement"

Even his teammate, Danilo Petrucci, wants to get back on track in the best possible way. Any thoughts of winning the World Championship are practically over for him, but in the last few races he has shown improvements on the Desmosedici GP20, even if not enough yet to fight for the top positions.

"In the last two races we have managed to improve our performance, but I think there is still room for improvement admitted Petrucci - Every Grand Prix is different, and Le Mans is a unique track, where last year we managed to get a double podium with Andrea. The low temperatures and the rain, which will probably disturb us over the weekend, are two factors that will affect the Grand Prix and besides, it will be the first time that we race on this track in October. Once again, it will be crucial to be able to qualify well to fight for a satisfactory result in the race."
