MotoGP: Vinales: “I want to demonstrate the real potential of the M1”

What Yamaha will we see at Brno? This is one of many question marks heading into the race weekend. On Monday the new M1 will take to the track but first comes the Czech GP. There is great expectation particularly for Maverick Vinales, a star of the last two championship rounds.

“It's great to be back on track, I feel pumped if I think how I finished the last races. We come here with the same mentality as always. We have nothing to lose adn so need to give it our all right from free practice, trying to score the best possible result”.

Maverick's attention then turns to the bike.

The bike is different to 2018. My aim is to be competitive during this second part of the season and demonstrate the real potential of our M1”.

He appears confident ahead of the Czech weekend.

“Last year Rossi ran a great race here and that makes me confident. It's difficult to say whether we're in with a chance of winning or not”.

Vinales is very aware but also relaxed.

“Right now I'm just thinking about giving it my all. This is the right mentality, as the goal is to give 100% right from the very first lap of the weekend".

Is Maverick doing better with the M1 now, or was 2017 the best period?

It's hard to say, that year I only won the first three races, then nothing. Every year has its own story”.

A final word about Monday's test.

2020 won't begin until after the Valencia race. So we need to stay focused on this season, trying to improve the bike, particularly during the tests we'll have”.
