MotoGP: Doohan: "Proud to share this milestone with Marquez"

Marc Marquez has triumphed at Motegi, winning both the race and the title and moving one step closer to setting new records. With this win, the Spaniard now ties with another legend, and former Honda rider to boot, namely Mick Doohan.

The Australian won five titles in the reigning class and did so on board a Honda, just like Marquez. This is what he had to say about Marc.

"Marc is a brilliant rider and deserves all the success he's had at just 25 years of age. He's run a perfect season, with eight race wins, and his extraordinary consistency has seen him reach the podium in most races".

Marc has reached this milestone at 25, and can still set many more records in years to come.

"I want to congratulate Marc on his fifth MotoGP title. I'm proud to share this milestone with him. Thanks Marc for putting on a great show on track and for your style, which is simply unique".
