The first reaction from Yamaha arrived from managing director Lin Jarvis at the Sky microphones after meeting with Race Direction. The manager was stern about Marquez’s behaviour in the race which resulted in Valentino Rossi’s crash.

As a team, we cannot accept this type of action by Marquez who made an unacceptable manoeuvre twice – he said – first with Aleix Espargaró and then with Valentino Rossi, who lost a lot of points and could have been injured. Now we must wait for the decision by Race Direction and FIM. They need to see if they can do anything more, because a decision was already taken concerning the race, with the 30 second penalty. Valentino said that Marc is dangerous and that he is afraid to be on the track with him. It is something that needs to be resolved for the future and for the good of our sport.”

We have no argument with Honda – he continued – We had an opinion that we wanted to share with Race Direction, both Valentino and we as a team. To be honest, I have no interest in speaking with Honda or Marquez today. I saw that they tried to come into our garage, but it was not the right time to do so.”
