Three different front and rear tyre options available to the riders

Michelin: new compounds for Barcelona

The Montmelò track is characterised by fast turns that really stress the tyres. For this reason, Michelin has prepared for the Catalonia GP by studying the compounds produced especially for the Barcelona event.

The French manufacturer will provide the MotoGP riders with three different rear tyre options, all asymmetric, with a harder compound on the right side designed to perform at high temperatures. Riders can therefore choose between soft, medium and hard solutions at both the front and rear.

Montmelò, with its fast corners featuring several sequences of turns, a long straight and heavy braking zones is certainly a track that will test the tyres to the full - explains Piero Taramasso, manager of Michelin - Grip can also be compromised as the heat increases so this is something we need to take into account, along with some of the bumpy sections which have a bearing on bike set-up. We had a good result at Mugello and, with this in mind, our tyre allocation will be very similar to the one we used in Italy. We have some different compounds to use this weekend, which are more suited to the Catalonian circuit".
