Davide Brivio is leaving the Aprilia Trackhouse team to join Honda. The rumor came from Sky and is well-founded. In recent years, the Japanese manufacturer has been shifting its MotoGP strategy with the stated goal of returning to the level of performance it once demonstrated.
The arrival of Romano Albesiano as technical director was a watershed moment and the first step towards this. Signing on Fabio Quartararo is also a statement of intent. Now, the next piece of the puzzle is Brivio’s arrival. The Italian manager needs no introduction: he won and made history at Yamaha with Valentino Rossi, brought Suzuki into the MotoGP elite, then had a brief stint in Formula 1 with Alpine, before returning to the MotoGP paddock to help develop the rookie Trackhouse team.
Now he accepted a new challenge with the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer. His role is expected to be that of a consultant, while we'll have to wait to learn the future of Alberto Puig, whose contract with HRC is expiring.
