Dominique Aegerter will join Jeremy Alcoba in the Kawasaki WorldSSP Team for the 2026 season. Born in Rohrbach, Switzerland, in 1990, he began his career in the 125cc class in the German IDM Championship, then made his MotoGP debut in the 125cc class in 2006, before moving in 2010 to the then-new Moto2 category where he finished on the podium six times.
Full-time among the production based racing series since 2021, he immediately won two consecutive titles in the Supersport category, as well as the MotoE cup in 2022, and next year he will have the new Ninja ZX-6R 636 at his disposal, already twice in the Top 3.
"Welcoming Dominique is a great sign of Kawasaki's commitment to competing at the highest level. He is a talented rider and an established champion in the Supersport category within the WorldSBK paddock. This year we decided to field our new Ninja ZX-6R 636 with some caution, within the rules regarding performance balance. We did this to evaluate, given the different displacements and configurations of our competitors, what we needed to be able to face them in the race. It wasn't easy, but Alcoba did a great job together with his team and technical staff as an individual rider, and now we will be able to take advantage of everything we learned," were the words of Steve Guttridge, Kawasaki Europe's Race Planning Manager.
"A three-time world champion is a certainty. We are confident we can fight for the World Championship with him being a giant in the class. We will do our best to give him everything he needs to express his full potential and give his all. We will be on track for our first tests with him at the end of November, in Jerez ," stated team manager Manuel Puccetti.
"When I met Manuel Puccetti and Steve Guttridge, I immediately knew it would be the right choice because they share the same ambition as me, which is to bring Kawasaki back to the top. The recent results of the ZX-6R 636 show the potential of this bike. I am happy to be back in WorldSSP, a category in which I have done very well in the past, with two world titles and numerous victories. I know that the team also knows how to win races and titles. I can't wait to get on my new bike, meet my technical team, and put on the green jersey! My thanks of course go to Kawasaki, but also to my brother, who took care of all the bureaucracy and contracts, and to all our sponsors for making this possible," the 35-year-old excitedly declared.
